A fantastic late 19th century Chinese Peking rug with large stylized Shou character central medallion flanked by mirrored images of a deer under a tree, with a phoenix and bat flying overhead, all woven in light and dark indigo on a natural cream colored background. The border is exceptional, with a wide inner band with trellised floral and endless knot pattern, and dark indigo out border with a endless knots, Fu characters, and bats in the corners.
